Is Shyamkanu Mahanta’s sealed house really empty? Akhil Gogoi questions SIT

Public outrage has been growing ever since the death of Zubeen Garg in Singapore on September 19, 2025, at the age of 52.

Questions are rising over the investigation into the mysterious death of singer Zubeen Garg. Raijor Dal chief and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi has raised doubts about the Special Investigation Team (SIT) handling the case.

On Tuesday, Gogoi pointed to the house of Shyamkanu Mahanta, a key person in the probe. “This is the house the SIT is said to have sealed. GPS maps show the address and time. But how can lights still be on? Is the house really sealed?” he asked.

Gogoi’s comments have caused a stir on social media. People are questioning why a house that should be sealed by officials looks occupied. He urged the SIT to explain the situation clearly to maintain public trust in the investigation.
