The Government of Assam has announced a major reshuffle in the state police force, transferring and posting several senior officers across key districts and battalions. The Home (A) Department issued an official notification late on Friday, October 17, detailing the transfer of 30 senior officers “in the interest of public service.”
According to the order signed by Ajay Tewari, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, the reshuffle includes both IPS and APS officers holding the rank of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Commandant, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). The transfers are aimed at strengthening law enforcement across districts and ensuring administrative efficiency.
Among the key transfers, Shri Partha Protim Das, IPS (RR-2018), Senior Superintendent of Police, Sribhumi, has been posted as SSP, Cachar, replacing Shri Numal Mahatta, APS, who moves to Kokrajhar. Smti. Leena Doley, APS (DR-2002), who earlier served as SSP, Dhubri, will now take charge as SSP, Sribhumi. Similarly, Shri Debasish Borah, APS, Commandant of the 4th Assam Police Battalion, has been appointed SSP, Dhubri. 
In another major change, Shri Pushpraj Singh, IPS (RR-2014), takes over as SSP, Karbi Anglong, while Shri Sanjib Kumar Saikia, APS, assumes responsibility as SSP, Kamrup. Shri Subhrajyoti Bora, IPS (RR-2016), earlier SSP of Sivasagar, moves to Jorhat, and Shri Shwetank Mishra, IPS (RR-2015), will now serve as Commandant of the 4th Assam Police Battalion with additional charge of SSP (SB–R&AC), Assam.
The notification also mentions transfers of several other officers, including Shri Mayank Kumar, IPS, who has been posted as SSP, Tinsukia; Shri Gurav Abhijit Dilip, IPS, who moves to Dibrugarh; and Shri Veera Venkata Rakesh Reddy, IPS, who will now serve as SSP, Hojai. Shri Saurabh Gupta, IPS, has been appointed as Assistant Inspector General of Police (AP) at Dergaon and attached to the Assam Police Headquarters in Guwahati.
Other notable changes include Smti. Shambhavi Mishra, IPS (RR-2019), who becomes Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Guwahati, and Shri Padmanabh Baruah, IPS (RR-2016), who is now Senior Superintendent of Police (V&AC–F), Assam. Shri Amitabh Basumatary, APS, has been transferred as DCP (West), Guwahati.
The reshuffle also covers officers in various battalions. Shri Diganta Kumar Choudhury, APS, has been posted as Commandant, 2nd Assam Commando Battalion at Birshima, Hailakandi, while Shri Gautam Borah, IPS, has been appointed as Commandant, 15th Assam Police Battalion at Eraligool.
