Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will visit Guwahati on October 17 to pay tribute to the late music icon Zubeen Garg, whose death has left Assam and the nation in deep mourning. The visit was confirmed by Bedabrata Bora, Chairperson of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee’s (APCC) Media Cell, on Wednesday.
According to party sources, Rahul Gandhi will travel to Sonapur, where Zubeen Garg’s last rites were performed, to pay his respects at the site. He is also expected to visit Zubeen Garg’s residence to meet the singer’s family and express his condolences in person. The Congress leader is likely to spend some time with family members and close associates of the late artist, sharing in their grief and offering words of comfort.
Zubeen Garg, 52, passed away on September 19 while swimming in Singapore, a loss that sent shockwaves across the cultural and musical communities of Assam and beyond.
