Singapore Police dismiss foul play in Zubeen Garg’s death

According to the police, the case is being thoroughly investigated under Singapore’s Coroners Act 2010.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has issued an official statement addressing the growing rumours and false claims surrounding the death of celebrated Indian singer and composer Zubeen Garg. In its statement released today, the SPF said that there is no indication of foul play based on their preliminary investigation.

According to the police, the case is being thoroughly investigated under Singapore’s Coroners Act 2010. This law governs how deaths are examined when the cause or circumstances are unclear. The authorities said that once their investigation is complete, all findings will be handed over to the State Coroner, who will decide whether a Coroner’s Inquiry (CI) is needed.

A Coroner’s Inquiry, they explained, is a formal, fact-finding process led by a judicial officer to determine the cause and manner of death. The results of this inquiry will be made public after the proceedings are concluded. The police also noted that their investigation may take up to three more months to finish, depending on the findings and other formalities.

In an effort to maintain transparency, the Singapore Police had already shared a copy of the autopsy report and their preliminary findings with the High Commission of India on October 1, 2025, following an official request from Indian authorities. This move was seen as a gesture of cooperation between the two countries as fans and officials in India seek clarity over the circumstances of the beloved artist’s passing.

The SPF, in its statement, appealed to the public to refrain from spreading unverified information and rumours online. “We urge the public not to speculate and spread unverified information,” the statement read. The police said that investigations into sudden deaths require time and accuracy, and that speculation could create unnecessary confusion and distress for the family and fans.
