Manipur Police, in coordination with Assam Rifles, have arrested three active cadres of the proscribed outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Formation Lotus – KCP MFL) following a threat video posted on social media targeting the ongoing Sangai Festival 2025.

The video, uploaded on November 21, 2025, by a Facebook user named “Metei Lanmi Naotyboy,” warned of bombing the festival, which is one of Manipur’s most prestigious cultural events attracting visitors from across India and abroad. The authorities acted swiftly to prevent any untoward incident.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Laishram Sonia Devi, 31, of Okram Chuthek, Imphal East district; Salam Luwangnganba Meetei alias Ibungo, 22, of Tera Sadokpam Leikai; and Phamdom Phampok Meitei alias Ajay alias Abungcha, 29, of Wangjing Bazar in Thoubal district.

Laishram Sonia Devi was apprehended from her residence and was reportedly involved in extortion activities. Phamdom Phampok Meitei is alleged to have been planning to hurl grenades at the festival venue. The accused have been linked directly to the online threat and were preparing for disruptive acts that could have endangered public safety.

The operation comes as part of a larger effort to maintain law and order during the festival. Manipur Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that further action will be taken against anyone found connected to such threats or illegal activities.

In a related development, on November 26, 2025, Manipur Police also arrested an 18-year-old active cadre of the banned outfit KYKL (SOREPA), Thangjam Avinash Singh alias Amuba alias Picktru, from Porompat. He was reportedly involved in recruiting new members for the group. Authorities seized one mobile phone from his possession, which is believed to contain critical information for further investigation.
